Square Up People!!

So...its been a while since I've been here. I must say that I've been kind of in a mental block when it comes to writing/typing out my thought. I think a lot and have tons of conversations about life with people but just sitting down and getting my "Carrie Bradshaw" on has been challenging (or I've been lazy). Any who, the main thing that's on my mind these days is that I see so many people who just freakin' feel sorry for themselves!! I've been through my share of trails and tribulations but I guess maybe I am just an optimistic person,idk, but I feel like I am more realistic than anything. Realistically speaking shit can always be worst! Seriously if you woke up this morning with a roof over your head and warm water to wash you butt with you're better off than a lot of people. Yet, I will admit that I was also in a dark place myself and once you've been into that black hole called depression its similar to the black hole in space, it draws you in more and more like a magnet. So you have to take self inventory on a daily basis, or as much as needed, and realize that you are BLESSED!! I mean lets not even talk about the fact that you're still alive, lets talk about how lucky/blessed we are just to be apart of this game called life. Lets start with the beginners luck. Do you know how many sperm cells were let loose when your mom and dad was doing the do? Over 500,000,000!! And WE made it to the egg and we're here!! Life is not easy and the devil and the evils of the world wants to defeat you but SQUARE UP!! You will never conquer or defeat anything if you run from it. When life, whether it be issues that occur or PEOPLE (usually that's the case) in your life try to make you miserable just SQUARE up and puff your chest out and fight back!! Not physically, but mentally and emotionally. Most of the things that happen in your life has little effect on you but its the way that you react to the situations that effect you the most. Dr. Maya Angelou said:
"If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude"

SQUARE UP people!! Stop feeling sorry for yourselves and about your situations. Stop losing out on all the good things in life because of your own inadequacies and start living each day determined to be here like you were when you were just that sperm cell reaching racing to that egg!! LETS GO AND LETS GET IT!!!

I feel a ball of emotions because wonderful people are dying before their time because of their bad decisions. Michael Jackson, now McNair. I feel that at the end of the day you CANNOT play with peoples emotions. I been there before, so far gone that its to the point like Chris Rock says.."You've never been in love until you contemplated suicide or homocide." In this case both occured. Everyone isnt built for the struggles in life so thats why you have to treat everyone with the upmost sincerity and be honest to them because it might cost you everything and even worst, your life. Who knows.. he might have told her from the beginning that he didnt want to be serious and she might just been crazy idk and I was taught not to speak harshly on the dead. Yet, I just want this to be a wake up call to people to be honest with everyone and most importantly to yourself. If you dont want to be with someone whether it be a wife/husband, a mistress, a girlfriend, or a platonic friend that just likes you more let that it be known and if you're unsure let everyone go so no one gets too hurt until you figure it out yourself. This is tragic because you have the murder than you have the circumstances that the loved ones have to live with. Crazy

I will make this short & sweet because I'm still a little shaken..This is the most significant lost of my generation. This is our Elvis. Our John Lennon. I wasnt born when the before mentioned two died so this is it for me. Its wierd. I never thought how I would feel because it aint like he has come out with an album in years but when my brother, who is 15.. 12 years my junior, calls shaken, this is something. I feel empty ,this is surreal to say the least and there will NEVER be anyone like him! And I feel this is why it hurts soooo much! Who can u compare to him?? The greatest are uncomparable.... R.I.P. to MJ and my condonlences to his family.

The Era of the "Underdog"???

So, I was thinking.. (as usual). This just seems like a new day. A new time in history. Like, there were periods in time that were named, although posthumously, when it was such a shift in the landscape of society. It seems like we're living in one of those moments. I cant come up with an intelligent, cosmopolitan name right now, i.e: the Renaissance, etc., but I will just coin it The Era of the Underdog.

Let me elaborate. Let's start less "deep" or with the downright shallow. I like basketball so I'm watching the NBA playoffs and I see Orlando and Denver doing the unthinkable and competing with the almighty(s) LeBron James and Kobe Bryant! These two guys are the most celebrated, talked about players in the league(rightfully so) but they are getting challenge by relatively "B-listers" Dwight Howard and Carmelo Anthony. Who would have thunk' it?! I, like everyone else, was drinking on the media juice and wanted to see a super- duper LeBron vs.Kobe final but than I thought about something more serious that made me root for the "underdogs".

Barack Obama is an underdog in every since in the word. Even if he was favored to beat McCain just the history of minorities in this country made the odds stacked against him. The things he had to endure just during the campaign were unlike any other candidate in history. The things that African Americans had to endure in history were NOT unlike any other group of people that were discriminated against YET can you imagine a Jewish person ruling Germany?? All of the "underdogs" realized that racism, bigotry & prejudices can't hold us down anymore. Anytime Obama can win states that were among the worst in America when it came to race relations during the civil rights movement, shows that all those people who are decedents of former KKK members, former slave owners and Confederate fighters finally got it. They were taught that no matter the income, if you were white you were superior to everyone that wasn't. These people realized that the "underdog" had nothing to do with the skin but the status. That the men that looked just like them that were running the country really didn't care anything about them, the honest working person. I heard somewhere that as a minority, as an underdog, you cant let the decision go to the judges. You have to KNOCK your opponent the hell out! Can't let the judges decide! Can't let it go to round 12! Can't leave that MF standing! KNOCK them out, meaning.. they goin' need some "smelling salt"! Because, the sky ISN'T the limit for us 'Orphan Annie's', the limit is the damn sky, lol. That's always makes me laugh. What it means is you have to work harder, you have to be smarter, you cant be "asi asi", that's so so.

Yet....could it be that the playing field has either evened out for us underdogs or we just are working harder than the people who are the favorites? I recently saw Slum Dog Millionaire and it was brilliant. First of all, the concept was amazing. This kid from the slums finds himself on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and all of his life struggles related to all of the questions. He had no education. His mom was killed, he and his brother were exploited by money hungry people but even with no education, by him just surviving through the tribulations in his life, he related every question to his unfortunate life experiences. People thought it was a fluke that he was answering the questions right. Even accused him of cheating (sounds familiar). Maybe its called irony, karma, maybe its even more cynical like Malcolm X said and the "chickens are coming home to roost". But, the underdogs, the less fortunate people, the indigenous ones will not be ignored! All of the people who were always on top and favorites are sweating! "Oh what a day when the tables will turn" is a wonderful dance hall song that I listened to a lot win Barack won. Don't get me wrong this isn't about "race". This isn't about Black people or minority people taking over but its about the people that are on the bottom of the totem poll. The people that are overlooked. The people that were told to work for the rich are now realizing that all men ARE created equal! Lets try to work for ourselves or at least realize our self worth. This is now the era for all of us that didn't come from picket fences and the silver spoon. Some of you did have well off parents who put us through college but it was on YOU to make the most out of it. Some have the lemons to make the lemonade some of us don't have the lemons or the squeezer but with the underdog spirit we can make the sweetest, most delicious lemonade out of this big lemon called perseverance!! This great squeezer called faith!! And this huge glass pitcher we mix it all in called... LIFE!!

Happiness...What is it??

Ok. I dont have any followers yet but I aint been promoting my shit!! Got a job & I've been busy so, I need to hire a street team or sumn out this MF (lol).... any who, I want to talk about happiness. I just got out of my first "real" relationship, with my first love and I'm soooo lost right now people. Like for real, like a GPS cant even find my a$$ right now but I had to come to a realization. When some1 isnt happy with themselves and overall in their life it aint no way you can make them happy. Ive been not happy with my job, not happy with my choices but to be overall an unhappy person is different. Like the Anthony Hamilton song says.."If youre good, then Im good, and we're good." I had to realize that I cant be a power ranger/ God almighty himself and save the people from their misery because its easier for a miserable person to make others miserable than it is for a happy person to make others happy. Happiness starts within and it is deep. It requires a crazy combination of self esteem, self worth, etc...etc.. BUT misery is just there & it causes people to play victim and not to be able to recognize when they are mad about stuff they cant control. Like, what is the reason to let a baby daddy/baby momma to make you miserable? Can you control how other people act? Can you really go back in the past & change the fact that you had a child with this person? Absolutely NOT!! So why dwell? The truest words that were ever spoken are..."It is what it is" Deal with it. Happiness loves harmony, but misery love company. Thats food for thought yall do the dishes AND respond, PLEASE!!!!!
